Boston Musicians Celebrate Steve Morse
Join us for this unique, live music celebration of Steve Morse–a beloved friend, fan and tireless supporter of the Boston music scene and its venues. Steve was Senior Critic at The Boston Globe from 1978-2006 where he continued to write music reviews as a freelancer into 2024. He also authored and instructed Berklee Online’s popular Rock History course from 2012-2024.
During his 50-year career in the music industry, Steve Morse was ‘omnipresent’ in Boston’s rock scene, and by his own recollection, he attended 250 concerts annually (which might have been a low estimate!). He published wide-ranging interviews and countless record reviews, championing musicians from international superstars to local favorites (performing in the largest arenas to the tiniest barrooms). His reviews were considered the high-water mark that propelled local musicians onto the scene.

Scarlet Oak Tavern
1217 Main Street - Hingham, MA 02043
Built in 1757, this Georgian house a storied history. Once a long-time private residence, the property was reformatted into the Country Fare Restaurant in 1939. When I (Rob) was going up in the 1980s, I remember going to what was then know as the Whiton House for Thanksgiving dinners. In 2007 The Webber Restaurant Group purchased the restaurant and re-named it Scarlet Oak, paying homage to the long-standing trees that lined the property in past history (many of which still stand today).
In any event, The Bubbs Band very much look forward to our return to the beautiful patio that features live music in the last Spring and throughout the Summer on Thursday and Friday nights. You can expect great food, creative cocktails and extensive wine list accompanied by the talent of local musicians.
